Unlock Your Potential, Transform Your Life.
Dedicated to helping you overcome life's challenges.
Hi, I am Lawrence Stroup. I am a psychotherapist that specializes in the treatment of stress and relationships. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker that provides services to persons in the state of Indiana by telehealth. I am also a Certified Financial Social Worker. I have been working in the mental health field since 2007 and have been in clinical practice since 2014.
How can I help?
I was trained as a generalist. I have worked with people from all ages and stages of life by helping to serve individuals, groups, and families in outpatient, residential, and inpatient settings, including those with acute and crisis needs. My practice is currently focused on serving adults. I work with individuals and couples.
Care Philosophy:
I am aware that life has a way of presenting unforeseen circumstances for all of us. Having support when we need it the most is a valued need and a service I help provide to my clients. I focus on helping you find strength, build on hope, and develop skills to become more resilient for the challenges you may face. Many clients have shared appreciation for an authentic, calm, caring, nonjudgmental approach for helping process their unique needs.
Concerns generally treated:
Addiction, Affairs, Anger Management, Anxiety, Caregivers, Codependency, Coping Skills, Depression, Family Conflict, Life Transitions, Marital and Premarital, Mood Disorders, Parenting, Peer Relationships, Relationship Issues, Self Esteem, Stress, Trauma and PTSD.
Types of Therapy Techniques:
Attachment-based, Clinical Supervision and Licensed Supervisors, Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Eclectic, Family Systems, Gottman Method, Humanistic, Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered, Solution Focused Brief (SFBT), Strength-Based, Trauma Focused.
I use an eclectic, person centered, strengths based, cognitive approach with individual clients to identify and process needs. In your first sessions we will focus on identifying challenges and further sessions will focus on change development. With couples, our first few sessions will be thorough assessment with subsequent sessions focused on addressing current stressors and goals.
Education:
In 2014 I completed my Master of Social Work degree with a concentration in Mental Health and Addictions at Indiana University School of Social Work Indianapolis. In 2008 I completed my Bachelor of Art degree with a major in Anthropology and double minors in Forensic Science and Psychology at Purdue University in West Lafayette.
